- Nashville Trip
A recent trip to Nashville proved to be very enjoyable and a great learning experience about the traditions, lifestyles, and entertainment venues in and around Tennessee's capital city. I took nearly 1500 photos as well as dozens of videos clips of various things. This album contains only photos of me taken by others during my many day trips to the various sites.

- Provincial Public Service Pensioners Meeting - Bonavista - April 19, 2011
On April 19, 2011, our newly formed local committee on public service pensions held its first meeting at the Bonavista Lions Club. Our committee has representatives from the retired teachers, NAPE retirees, community college retirees, etc. Our purpose is to unite public service retirees on the lower half of the Bonavista Peninsula, from the Charleston area to the Bonavista area, including both the Bonavista Bay side and the Trinty Bay side of the peninsula. Our area encompasses a large portion of the provincial district of Bonavista South and part of the provincial district of Trinty North. Our concerns and goals are in keeping with those of the recently formed Provincial Committee on Public Service Pensions, and those of similar local groups that are organizing themselves in other areas of the province. Twenty-two years without any increase in our pensions, the lack of any indexing, the continually rising cost of living, and the large amount of unfunded liability in our pensions are all major concerns for retirees in our area. Although the current provincial government inherited these problems, they have now been in office for almost two full terms and have failed to address these issues in any meaningful way. Retirees in our area are now ready to become more vocal on this issue and work for improvement in pensions on into the fall and the provincial election and beyond, if necessary. Our first meeting was a very successful one with nearly seventy persons in attendance. The following video clips allow you to view and listen to some of the discussion. Our guest speakers were Sharron Callahan from the Newfoundland and Labrador Public Pensioners Association and Ralph Morris from NAPE. Both are members of the Provincial Coalition on Public Pensions. Current MHAs and current candidates for the federal election in Bonavista-Gander-Grand Falls-Windsor were invited but none were able to attend. However, we did appreciate having in attendance Tyler Butt, Constituency Assistant for Bonavista South MHA Roger Fitzgerald.

- Winter Outing at Princeton Pond - Retired Teachers - Bonavista Division - March 7, 2010
On March 7, fourteen members of our Division travelled to Princeton Pond on the Bonavista Peninsula for our annual winter outing. This year's outing began at Gord Fudge's cabin, then a trek to an inside pond for some trouting and a traditional Newfoundland boilup , and finally back to Gord's cabin for some music and a singalong. A great day in the outdoors...and a good time was had by all.

- Victoria Day Weekend 2010 - Sunday Drive: Photos & Videos
On Sunday afternoon, May 23, Fred and Lorraine Pelley, mother (Maude),
and I travelled to English Harbour and Champney's Arm. These communities are located near Port Rexton, on the Bonavista Peninsula. Fred once lived there as a young boy while his father, Pastor Eric Pelley, was a minister there. Fred gave us a tour of English Harbour and Champney's Arm where the church was built. Just before we reached the area, we saw a moose by the side of the road and I was able to take some photos and video. Mother (Maude) wouldn't get out of the truck at English Harbour so she doesn't appear in the photos. Music is by Buddy Wasisname and the Other Fellas.
- Nan Tremblett's 80th Birthday
On March 8, 2010, Nan Tremblett celebrated her 80th birthday.
Due to the power outage in the area on that day, we couldn't
have the planned birthday celebrations. However, on Saturday, March 16,
we did go to PK's Restaurant with her for a meal, and we came back to her
house to take some photos of her with her many cards and birthday cake.
The music in the slideshow is by The New Kids on the Block.
- September Travel: Avalon to Illinois
I left Bonavista on September 9 for a four day trip to visit a nephew
in Rockford, Illinois, and to see the sites in and around the Chicago area. While I was waiting one day in St. John's for a flight to O'Hare Airport in Chicago, I visited Duncan Ford who recently moved to the Goulds and we spent some time visiting some sites in and around St. John's. On September 10, I flew to Toronto, met with another nephew, Joshua Strdye who flew in from Calgary, and together we flew to Chicago where we spent four days visiting Corey and seeing some of the American Mid-West.
